Michael Pachter, a well known industry analyst from Wedbush Morgan, has given his predictions for the August gaming sales in the US. He estimates that the Wii has once again outsold both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, selling roughly 550,000 units.
Sony’s PlayStation 3 takes second place with a forecasted 225,000 units, followed closely by Microsoft’s Xbox 360, which Pachter forecasted the sales at around 200,000. So far this year the PS3 has outsold the 360 in terms of hardware sales.
All the above should be taken lightly, as in previous months Pachter has been wrong with his predictions. But his estimates are usually quite close to the actual sales numbers.
The only way we know how true these expected results are is to view the NPD numbers for August. These NPD numbers will be available at some point today (11th September).
