After a few weeks of promising to do it, I finally got round to actually writing the new Call of Duty 4 Tips and Tricks article.
This new and updated post will take in to account the previous ideas and apply them to your suggestions in the comments.
First of all is a list of recommended class profiles to use…
Custom Classes
- StealthThis profile focuses on ambushing your opponents by flanking them from behind or the sides.
Main: MP5 (silenced)Side: Desert Eagle
Perk 1: Bandolier
Perk 2: Stopping Power
Perk 3: Dead Silence

Perk 1: Bandolier
Perk 2: Stopping Power
Perk 3: Extreme Conditioning
- PowerA class of pure power, capable of wiping out enemies instantly but presents an easy target.

Perk 1: RPD Grip
Perk 2: Stopping Power
Perk 3: Deep Impact
- RushA nice one for people who like to get their hands dirty and enter the fray.
Main: M4 (Red Dot scope)Side: Desert Eagle
Perk 1: Special Grenades x 3
Perk 2: Juggernaut
Perk 3: Deep Impact
This article is an on-going work in progress, so keep checking back as I will be adding more information in a day or two, including tactical tips and tricks!

hay mark i have a conflicting problem when i play, i try to get head shots with the R700 and it usually works but as i get in to the game i start to move around alot and start to get into close quarters, but on ocasions (near half the time) i get caught in the open and well u no the rest. i use a shotgun i was wondering if you would have a good combo which allows range, power( for tight spaces) and versatility. thanks.
CALL OF DUTY 4 RRRUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLEEEEEESSSSSSSS
plus i’ve been hearing about prestige mode or something, WTF is it?!?!?!
Happy Killing… =- )
Hi milzyboi,
Unfortunately Mark is no longer an author for JVG, but I should be able to help you anyway. I’m an absolute fan of CoD4 myself.
In terms of getting range and power, I’d recommend using the same layout as the Stealth profile above, put switch the silenced MP5 with a red dot scope. I used this as my generic class for ages, seems to work in most situations.
Also try swapping the Dead Silence for Extreme Conditioning if you like to be constantly on the move.
plus with the level ”Wet works” i was playing a random MTD (merc team deathmatch) and i was wondering around and i found some shotgun ( M104 or something) and i found it really effective at thining out all the ruskies. anyways do u play Xbox or PS3?

Before I unlocked the desert eagle I found it didn’t make a big difference which pistol I used. I tended to use the USP .45 before getting the Desert Eagle
Thanks for your comment, I might add options for people with no unlocked weapons.

[The One Man Army]
I’ve been playing CoD4 for quite a while now and ive found that (for me) the most effective weapons are SMG’s. When combined with special grenades, they dominate in enclosed spaces. Also, for medium distances, a good few bursts work just as good as an assault rifle. Then again, I am a very agressive player which if harnessed correctly results with 30+ kills per TDM. Always try to stick to halls or passages, this class is very agile and never stops. Again, this class is very agressive but not reckless. Flanking, stealth, stuning/flashing, speed, accuracy, and prioritizing targets are of the essence.
So…
First, p90 or mp5 (silenced) and desert eagle. If you don’t have a deagle I like the m9.
Perk 1: Triple Stun – Use freely to shock a room before clearing, make a distraction so as to flank, or just to buy some time to get up close/enclosed area.
Perk 2: Stopping power – is a must on normal, though on hardcore i recommend sleight of hand instead.
Perk 3: Steady Aim – Over 50% of my shots are hip fired and find their target.

juggernaut is for **** if u use it **** off to some other game like sims you ****
Fair enough, i understand that you do not like people who use juggernaut. But come on, is there any need for that language? I feel it just shows yourself up as an inconsiderate idiot, and as there may be children reading this.
really why would you use that language ok jugganaughts annoying but if u dont like it go on hardcore team deathmatch
its that simple
on hardcore search i always use M21, wiv USP.45 as backup its a 1 shot kill and gr8 for multiple long range enemie’s, especialy when defending the supplies(or whatever it is you defend.
Desert eagle fails
USP owns for the simple reason its got about 77.5% of the deagles power but with no recoil – the deagle has HUGE recoil
