Call of Duty: World At War
The news we have all been waiting for has finally been delivery by the official Xbox 360 magazine. That is the first details on the next instalment of Call of Duty. Of course Call of Duty 4 is a crowd favourite here at Just Video Games and just this week we reached over 100 comments on our COD 4 tips and tricks post. Anyway the good news is that the next instalment Call Of Duty: World At War goes back to the world war II era and is in development by Call of Duty 3 developers Treyarch.
Call of Duty 3 of course received mixed reviews but we absolutely loved it, the accuracy of the rifles and atmospheric feel to the game was stunning. Despite our love affair with both previous titles this time round we are being promised a much grittier style of game. World of War will be set in pacific theatre and in parts see the Russians advance into Belgium. This all sounds great and what’s better is that the game will be based on the COD 4 engine.
Treyarch have also been getting excited about the new AI that is on offer in World At War. The developers have been paying particular attention to the different styles of fighting that were on display at the time. The Japanese soldiers for example have been given special attention as they used to fight in different ways to soldiers from the west. The Japanese would hide in trees, crawl in the undergrowth and go out on Rambo suicide missions. This means that every battle in the game will have some unique element and no one generic formula can be used for every level.
Over the coming 6 months we will undoubtedly start seeing more and more details coming out the Treyarch camp and we personally can’t wait. This should be another special title in the series and lets hope it delivers the drama that COD 4 does. While we wait for World At War it may be worth picking up a copy of Brothers In Arms when in comes out. Is lining up to be a very nice game.
