Call of Duty: World at War Multiplayer Beta soon

Activision has announced that a multiplayer beta will take place at some point in October for the 5th instalment to Call of Duty, World at War. The beta is confirmed for the Xbox 360 and PC platforms. The games multiplayer will demonstrate a new squad system and the continuation of the successful Perks feature.

To stand a chance of entering the beta, players must register for an account at www.callofduty.com. Alternatively, GameStop pre-order promotions are currently offering access to the beta. The latter probably has a better probability of getting in (possibly 100%).

The game is due out worldwide on November 11, 2008.

In related news, UK-based magazine OXM (Official Xbox Magazine) has hinted at Infinity Ward working on a sci-fi Call of Duty. If this turned out to be true then it is likely to be Call of Duty 6. Activision confirmed they plan on releasing Call of Duty 6 next year using their developer leapfrog technique, so in theory IW are working on CoD6 now.
