Chat Away On The PSP (PSP Messenger)
Sony ‘s message is download the latest system software and get ready for the launch of audio and video chat on the PSP. The new update (3.90) has 2 hidden files that will revolutionise the way in which we all use our psp’s. The download available from eu.playstation.com has all the things you need to get the up and coming voice and video chat underway.
The application that allows you to do this is called Go!Messenger and works with both the new and old versions of the PSP. To use the software you will need to be in range of a wireless network. This is fine if you are at home but what about when you are on the move. Well there are numerous initiatives underway which aim to provide free wireless internet access around city centres. We are not sure if this will allow audio and video communications but we will keep a close eye on the progress for you. We believe Manchester is one of the leading cities when it comes to these initiatives.
Owners of the latest PSP slim & lite models get an extra benefit from the update in the form of Skype chat functionality. Skype is a free chat system and has huge success over here in the UK and America. Not all calls are free but rates are very competitive and it is a service that is well worth having a look at. Having Skype on your PSP will also enable you to edit and delete contacts, change account information and make calls to land lines and mobiles. All you need to get Skype working on your PSP is the system update and the latest headset with a remote control. This is expected to be release very shortly.
