There are some rumours circulating the internet regarding the Wii port of the popular Xbox 360 zombie game, Dead Rising. The Wii version is renamed as “Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop”, which feature near-identical game play, with the exception of using the Wii remote’s motion capabilities to take out the zombies.

There have also been suggestions the camera and picture taking objectives are toned down or removed.
The rumours mentioned above seem to suggest that the Wii port is roughly sketched in for a winter 2008 release. This is quite tentative so it is likely to change at any time. I found the Xbox 360’s version of this game to be somewhat repetitive, so I’m hoping the Wii game play offers a little more to keep us hooked.

In a related context I also noticed that there is a mobile (cell phone for you yanks) version of Dead Rising. Strangely it is quite fun for a phone game, aptly capturing some of the better qualities of the game. I stumbled upon the game accidently when I was browsing the games available for my brand new Nokia 6500 Classic. The game reminds me of an old game called “Zombies Ate My Neighbours”, which I used to own on the Super Nintendo (SNES).
