Original developers Illusion Softworks are returning to the lost city to bring us a new version of the cinematic drive em up Mafia. This time round Illusion have set the cinematic driving shoot em up in the 1940’s era and made some significant improvements from the original. One thing that annoyed gamers in the original was the speed of the cars. The cars were extremely slow and made car chases a bit of a drag. This time developers have given the cars a significant speed increase and gamers can now enjoy the sort of cop evading action that you see in games such as GTA.
Mafia II seems to capture all the energy of the original title but has been updated to give it that next generation look and feel. The graphics are stunning and the good frame rates allow for crisp and smooth rendering. The cities have also grown in size giving gamers the chance to explore even more avenues of Chicago. If you like fast cars, big guns, smooth suits, messy cut scenes and great theme music then this is the game for you.
