It seems that now the February NPD, Microsoft has jumped straight in to PR mode. They are claiming another victory over the PlayStation 3, quite right to as they managed to sell 70% more Xbox 360 consoles than Sony did their black box.
However, one statement made by Aaron Greenburg, Xbox 360 product management director, is a little too twisted. Greenburg claims the expansion Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned “outsold” Killzone 2.
A couple of points about this statement stink:
- One is a full retail game costing between £30-40 ($50-60). the other is an add-on for a well established franchise, costing about $10.
- GTAIV: The Lost and Damned was released February 17 (12 days) while Killzone 2 was on Feb 27 (2 days)
By all means, gloat about another month of tremendous hardware sales (up 53 percent from last year), but drawing attention to one of the most successful games on the PS3 isn’t too wise.
