PlayStation Home Beta Expansion – How to Get In

Posted by Stefan Crowe On August - 8 - 2008

A post has been added on the PlayStation.Blog website, detailing some of the ways you can gain access to the Home Beta. Jack Buser, PlayStation Home Director, has written that the initialisation of Beta expansion is the “end of the month”.

The article states that users can get in the Closed Beta simply by downloading the latest Home theme from yesterday’s PSN Store update, although this does not guarantee entry. After getting the theme, your PSN account will be analysed by a “variety of criteria including activity on the PLAYSTATION Network”.

There is a catch to all the above, only US PSN users are eligible. But don’t worry fellow Europeans, we will also be getting the chance to enter the test community. The blog goes on to say the following:

In Europe, SCEE is also beginning their expanded closed beta, directly targeting consumers who have been most active on PLAYSTATION Network and PLAYSTATION Store. SCEE will be in email contact with their PSN audience very shortly.

So if you are an avid user of the PlayStation Network, play online often and use the PSN Store on a regular basis, then you could be in with a chance. Looks like the hardcore gamers are getting priority here, which in my opinion is completely fair.
