Nielsen have released a batch of statistics for various US entertainment items, such as most popular TV show and most watched TV commercial (advertisement). Amongst these stats (PDF link at bottom of this article) are some video games ones. The table below shows the video game usage for each games console. They show some surprising trends:
| Rank | Console | Usage Minutes % |
| 1 | PlayStation 2 | 30.2 |
| 2 | Xbox 360 | 18.3 |
| 3 | Wii | 13.5 |
| 4 | Xbox | 9.1 |
| 5 | PlayStation 3 | 7.7 |
| 6 | Gamecube | 4.4 |
| 7 | Other | 16.9 |
As you can see the PlayStation 2 is still fighting off all the other consoles, including the unstoppable Wii. PlayStation 3 suffers quite drastically in comparison with less than a third of what the PS2 obtained. The original Xbox even managed to surpass the PS3, which is a bad sign for Sony. As expected the Xbox 360 rides high, even beating out the Wii, which only manages third place.
In similar news, and more positively for Sony, the built-in PlayStation 3 web browser is used around 4 times more than the Wii internet browser. This sounds great until you see the actual real life comparison which puts the values at 0.04% and 0.01% for the PS3 and Wii respectively (the PC had 88.7%).
