PS3 Firmware 2.52 Pops Up

The latest update to the black beauty’s firmware has been quietly released. With no pre-warning you can’t expect much with this update, especially seeing as it is only a 0.01 difference in version numbers.

Well, you would be right for thinking it isn’t anything significant. The update improves the playback of PS3 games; I believe fixing some sound stuttering problems reported by some users on certain games.

Secondly, the new firmware fixes an unknown problem with all types of keyboard used in conjunction with the PS3 and again certain games. This includes the on-screen keyboard so don’t think it is useless for those without the standalone job.

Below is the actual quoted changes:

- The playback quality of some PS3 format software has been improved.
- A text entry issue that occurs when using the on-screen keyboard [OSK], USB keyboard or Bluetooth keyboard with some PS3 format software has been addressed.

- Multiple microphones usage has been enabled.

[MotorStorm]
- “Previous/Next” operation in BGM function freezing issue fixed.

[OSK/USB keyboard text input]
- Opening/closing OSK function now stable.
- Prediction & conversion function issue has been resolved.

- PAL (50Hz) output of 59.94Hz content enabled.
(if an NTSC TV is used, no problem can be found)
