PSN Game, Savage Moon, Detailed

A new game set to launch on the PSN store has been announced on the PlayStation.Blog. The game is called Savage Moon and is a tower defence game.

First thoughts are to expect a PixelJunk Monsters rip-off; however the games are extremely different. While Savage Moon is indeed based on the same game play theory, which is build towers, upgrade towers and kill streams of monsters. The graphics are 3-dimensional and more realistic looking than PixelJunk’s cartoony theme. It is also set on desolate and barren landscapes rather than lush green forests, with levels on Savage Moon being situated on asteroids floating in space.

There is no mention on multiplayer support for Savage Moon and I believe one of the best aspects offered by PixelJunk Monsters is the co-operative mode. If Savage Moon does not feature any kind of multiplayer functionality it may well put me off the title completely.

Another problem I currently foresee in terms of this new game competing with PixelJunk Monsters is the complexity involved. Monsters was hugely fun because it was so easy and fun. Savage Moons developers need to ensure they don’t make a game that will only appeal to hardcore gamers in the end.
