Red Dead Redemption PS3 less than HD?

There are claims circulating the t’internet at this time that Rcokstar’s latest outing is offering a less-than-stellar performance on the PlayStation 3. This news comes from sources on the tech website Beyond3D, where users on their forum have pointed out the PS3 version appears to be running at ’640 vertical’ or 640p, rather than the ‘normal’ HD of 720p.

This tactic is not uncommon, as it has been employed by a number of games in an attempt to balance high quality graphics with stable frame rates. In fact, Rockstar’s own Grand Theft Auto IV was one such game to use the technique. However, the Xbox 360 iteration is said to be running at a more crystal clear, 720p.

There is no direct confirmation on this at the moment, so don’t jump the gun just yet. We’ll let you know when we hear more.
