Who doesn’t like a good patch every now and again? Well, I do anyway. Especially when the patch is for a great game like Resistance 2.
A video which details some of the changes we get to see in the next R2 patch has been released. For those of you who can’t be bothered watching the video, here are the key changes:
- Meltdown Mode added – Apparently, we will be getting to play in a remake of the classic Resistance 1 multiplayer mode.
- New co-op difficulty – Superhuman has been added as a mega, ultra-hard mode for the co-operative campaigns.
- Second player PSN login – The split-screen second player can now login to their own PSN profile and their information, gaming XP, etc. from that session will be saved.
The last point is the most impressive as it is the second game to support such a feature on the PS3, the first being LittleBigPlanet. Hopefully, this means more games with a co-operative split-screen will support this feature in future.
Update: I forgot to add the video, doh!
Update 2: It seems the video has been pulled from Gamespot’s website. Confirmtation of new firmware perhaps?
Update 3: As usual, the video was uploaded to YouTube:

no lbp doesnt support it, this support PSN log in, the other supports USER log in.
Ah, I see, I was a little unsure on that myself. So, Resistance 2 will allow any PSN account to login then, even ones that are not users on that PS3?
This actually semi confirms a PS3 firmware update as well because the original reason why Insomniac said multiple logins aren’t possible with R2 is that Sony hadn’t added the capability to the OS yet. There’s rumoured to be a firmware 2.70 announcement today so maybe we’ll here more about it very soon.
Yeah, I heard about that too. I considered chucking it on under the Rumours section, but thought I’d wait until the days over and see if any announcement is made.
………. the update 2.60 added the multiple log in features
Link01, do you have a source for that information?

1 question
HOME Game Launching Support?
I hope so, Home is picking up speed with Xi and more Home spaces. I haven’t heard much about it for R2, but I would’ve thought it was only a matter of time.
I hope so, Home is picking up speed with the whole Xi thing and more Home spaces. Apparently all future games will support it, maybe they’ll add that in a future patch.
