After Koticks threat that Activision might stop supporting Sony in the future, the world – OK, a couple of hardcore fans – waited with held breath for the inevitable response from Sony. The big deal with Activision leaving Sony behind would be no more Call of Duty or Guitar Hero games on the PlayStation 3 (and PSP).
Anyone expecting a fiery debate to initiate from Sony’s end will be left disappointed, with Patrick Seybold, SCEA spokesperson, coming forward with the following statement:
“PlayStation has tremendous momentum coming out of E3, and we are seeing positive growth with more than 350 titles slated to hit across all our platforms, including many anticipated games from our publishing partners.” He goes on to say, “We enjoy healthy business relationships with and greatly value our publishing partners and are working closely with them to deliver the best entertainment experience.”
Presumably, behind the scenes Sony are in contact with Activision regarding the comment, but with the above statement to go by, they aren’t letting anyone know their true feelings in the matter just yet. The wording carefully avoids pointing out the Kotick outburst in any way, simply re-stating what Sony has always said, ‘we love everyone and everyone loves us’ (not literally of course).
