This could quite possibly be the most significant ps3 update yet. PS3 system software update version 2.20 will introduce BD – Live to your PS3. BD – Live lets you download new content for compatible blu-ray disc movies. For some time Sony has been looking for new ways to improve their online store and they may have just found the key. This new feature will appeal heavily to movie lovers and exclusive content maybe had through the online store.
Sony promises to deliver new features such as downloadable games, ringtones, photos, video content and much more. The advanced discs are expected in spring of this year and Sony has been showing off some of the early demo versions of the discs. Some of the discs shown had the following features.
- A variety of downloadable content, including bonus scenes, shorts, trailers, subtitles, ringtones that can be sent to mobile phones, images, and more.
- Interactive movie-based games that can be played competitively offline and online.
Blu-Ray Live is not the only thing included in the update. Sony is continuing to push the PS3’s integration with the PSP. New updates will now make it much easier to share videos, music and photographs with the PSP device. This is hardly a big step forward but soon the support between PS3 and PSP will be very strong. Bring on the update Sony. Just another 1gb download to go through.
