Its official, The Sims 3 is in development. The big question is how do developers EA follow up from the hugely successful Sims 2. Do the developers try something completely different and buck the trend or do they continue with this winning formula. EA have decided to simply tweak the existing game and offer gamers new and exciting environments. The need for expansion packs has gone as the new game will feature huge open areas which will be left open for later developments. Player’s neighbourhoods will also constantly evolve and be updated on the fly.
The other big change is the way characters motives are controlled. In previous versions motives monitoring was extremely mundane and many gamers felt like the gaming aspect of the game had been left behind. EA look to change this by introducing a new more intuitive system. This system is designed to let gamers concentrate on more fun things like going out.
Character customisation has also been greatly improved. You will no doubt be able to put your ugly mug on a character or at least replicate it. Facial shades, shapes, sizes and features have been extensively worked on as EA look to produce a more realistic game. There is no doubt that EA have given the game a massive face lift but we cant help but feel the game looks the same as the last. If you are a serious Sims fan then you will want to check out this months Games for Windows magazine.
