Some of you might remember SCEE promising a free music video service for the PlayStation 3 back in 2008. As seems to be SCEEs forté, it was expected this service would never see the light of day, at least not in the PS3 consoles lifetime.
If you, like myself, thought these thoughts, well we should probably bite our inner-minds tongue. It seems that the official UK PlayStation website has had a page added which describes the services, how it will be delivered and some of the features we can expect to see from it.
Given they are adding actual pages of information to their website, it’s probably safe to say the VidZone service is coming. And possibly making an appearance soon too.
Here are some key facts that can be derived from this information page:
- It will be a free PlayStation Store download, which will add a XMB icon for the software in the [Music] section
- Custom playlist support
- Full control: Pause, rewind and fast forward to your leisure
- Music videos are streamed not downloaded and are of “superb” quality
- Wireless Remote Play support with the PSP – Watch and listen on the go
No release date is given, but there is a cool little trailer showing off some of the above mentioned points about VidZone on the PlayStation 3.
