Want a Free PS3? Play Bingo!

I have noticed more and more competitions and deals offering the PlayStation 3 as a prize recently. I don’t know if this is a true way of measuring things, but if it is surely that’s got to be a good sign for Sony. Yes, it could be seen as negative that they are giving PS3s away for free. However, these kind of competitions are usually intended to attract people with things they want. A year or more ago, these competitions were all offering a Wii or Xbox 360.

Is this a sign that the PlayStation is growing in popularity? Or just that it is reduced to the bargain bins already (very expensive bargains)?

There are even free, yes FREE, online bingo games that allow you to win a PS3. They do also have an Xbox 360, PSP and HDTV as a choice of prize though. On top of that there are literally hundreds of advertisements in all the newspapers (national and local) offering a free PlayStation 3 with this phone or a free XBox 360 console and game with that phone.

Now don’t get me wrong, it’s great you can get such “fantastic” deals (often somewhat less fantastic once you read the small print), I just don’t understand how any of the providers of these offers make any money. That and the fact I’m jealous a friend of mine won a free Wii after I paid out £180 for one a year ago.

Oh well, I suddenly have an urge to go play some bingo…
