A team of skin specialists have discovered a new skin disorder. The symptoms include red-coloured lumps on the palms of the hands which are painful to touch. The strangest part of all this is the cause, it seems that you can become inflicted with PlayStation palmar hidradenitis by playing console video games too much.
The condition seems to be brought about when excessively sweaty hands are combined with long play times of several hours on a regular basis. The reasoning behind the sores is due to the constant pressure being induced by the game controllers themselves, whilst pushing and holding the controller for extended periods and profuse sweating due to exciting or tense gameplay.
A specific case put forward by the team of researchers is that of a girl, 12, who appears to have suffered from PlayStation palmar hidradenitis after playing on her “PlayStation console for several hours a day”.
The no-brainer of it all is the cure. The girl fully recovered after 10 days without gaming, so stop playing for a while and you should be fine. A leading dermatologist also suggests you “give your hands a break from time to time” if they begin to hurt while playing.
