I have seen several articles and heard plenty of talk about the PC being the worst of all gaming platforms due to the ease that games are pirated on it. While I readily agree that PC gaming is being severely damaged by video game piracy, I believe one console, the Xbox 360, is becoming almost as bad as Windows (connection – Microsoft?) for early pirate copies of games.
This point is demonstrated several times as seen in articles this month.
First of all, non-console gamers were annoyed to hear that the PC version of Tom Clancy’s EndWar will have a delayed release simply to prevent it being the prime target of copied game lovers. VG247 have a quote by Michael de Plater, creative director at Ubisoft Shanghai, where he states;
“at the moment, if you release the PC version [of games], essentially what you’re doing is letting people have a free version that they rip off instead of a purchased version. Piracy’s basically killing PC.”
He also confirmed that piracy is the reason for the delay, saying “if PC wasn’t pirated to hell and back, there’d probably be a PC version coming out the same day”.
However, the piracy is by no means limited to PC games, recent articles by bit-tech.net and Team Xbox show that the Xbox 360 is prone to game copying too. These articles show how illegal versions of Fallout 3 and Gears of War 2 have been released prior to their release date.
Compassionate for the vast canvas, but I’m romantic the new Zune, and wish this, as considerably as the reviews many opposite group hold graphical, give you terminate if it’s the parcel for you.
