Xbox LIVE Scheduled Maintenance 24 hours on 29 September

Microsoft has stated that their Xbox LIVE service will be offline for maintenance for 24 hours. This is to upgrade required functions in order to pave the way for the “new Xbox experience”, which features a new system that is blend of Sony’s Home and the Wii Mii’s.

Major Nelson, from majornelson.com stated, “This service maintenance is in preparation for the new Xbox experience which will be available later this fall”. He also added, “Xbox LIVE and the ‘My Xbox’ section of Xbox.com will be unavailable”.

These improvements should mean the Xbox 360 will be receiving its competitive Home-stroke-Mii service up and running in time for Christmas, or even earlier. Unfortunately that means no online gaming or gamer tags for a whole day, I’m sure you Xboxers will survive though.

The Xbox forums are also suffering slightly (but not fully) from this scheduled downtime. However they will not be completely shut down, they are simply being put in to read-only mode, so you can read and not post.

The date for this maintenance is set at 29 September, starting at just after midnight and running up until midnight (at most) 24 hours later.
